steel dumping is only one reason for hulls not sailing this year. power plants are reducing their need for coal as they switch over to natural gas and wind power. iron ore prices have never been lower. trains hauling iron ore can now be used to haul oil, thus reducing our dependence on foreign oil as gasoline and natural gas prices continue to fall.

There will be a thinning of the herd in June and you figure 2 years for every one of dumping.

Unfortunately we are seeing more US and Canadian hulls sitting at the wall because of the steel being dumped here... Don't be surprised to see some more boats laid up by mid summer unless things start to turn around... With ore prices low and stockpiles high it won't take very long to stock the steel mills...

For example fednav yes they are based in Montreal I think but as far as I know they don't employ canadian or Americans unless I'm wrong ? It just seems there are a lot of American and canadian jobs tied to the wall and there are dozens of these ships trading on the lakes ?

Mapleglen and Birchglen are not Canadian built.

Which cargoes are you specifically referring to ? When you say international ships, are you referring to the new bulkers built in China ?

Supposedly the Birchglen and Mapleglen will not sail this season due to the arrivals of the CSL St-Laurent and CSL Welland.

Was wondering if anyone heard anything about CSL Mapleglen if she is coming out or is she done ? Thanks
