It is the Detroit Edison. Being a ship buff since the mid-70s I remember seeing pictures of the Detroit Edison in layup next to the Roger Blough. Later she was moved to a different dock in Sturgeon Bay.

I would also say that it is the Detroit Edison rafted to the Blough. I have attached a photo from my collection taken by Wendell Wilke in April of 1985 that shows the Edison rafted to the Blough at Sturgeon Bay. Both ships were in long term lay up at the time, with the Detroit Edison going to scrap and the Blough returning to service in 1986 after sitting idle since 1981. If memory serves me right, there was some fear during this timeframe that the Blough was done as a result of the dramatic downturn in the domestic steel industry.

I haven't been doing too well today with my posts, but I'll say the boat rafted to the Blough is the Detroit Edison.

Looks like the Detroit Edison of 1955 tied to the Blough. The A frame for the boom of the Edison had no oval openings in the flatwork at the top like the Boland (now Saginaw) has.

The carferry is M.V. Viking at Peterson Builders and I think the boat rafted to the Blough is SS John J. Boland

Can anybody identify the boat rafted to the Blough or the car ferry across the bay?

TIA
