The only way repair the azipods is to take her out of the water.

Apparently not, or not completely, since the Coast Guard is seeking bids for an unplanned dry docking in August. I suspect the timing is designed to coincide with the ship's least active time of the year.

Thank you for the reply I am aware of the condition of the isopod but earlier was told that engineers were working on the problem. I am wondering if they were able to resolve it or if and when it will have to be removed from water to repair.

Mackinaw is a diesel electric powered boat, which has diesel engines that provide power to her 2 azipods. all her engines are working, but one of the azipods is out of service. there is no direct shaft from her engines to the props. she is in southern lake Michigan doing bouy work. hope this helps

What is the condition of the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw? Is it still operating on one engine?
