Again thanks for all the replies.
Clydes is good but the locals go to better at West Pier Drive-in next to the upper canel just west of the bridge to Canada.

In Grand Marais check out the Lake Superior brewing Company. Good sandwiches, Great locally brewed barley pop. Their Agate Ale is worth the trip if you like a darker beer.

Up at Copper Harbor we enjoyed the Harbor Haus for German cuisine.

I've eaten at the Clyde's in Manistique for years, as well as the the in St Ignace. Each one is just as good as the others regardless of location. My trips to the UP wouldn't be official with a stop at Clyde's.

I drove 30 miles and paid two bridge crossings to eat at Clydes yesterday. Well worth it!

Karl's Cuisine next to the mountian golf across from the Locks is excellant. Wonderful food prepared like you can find at fine resturaunts. Check it out at http://karlscuisine.com/

Lockview Restaurant, acroos the street from the Soo Locks center, is a great place for not much money, and fast service too. Guess I ain't a good Boatnerd, as I have found Clyde's as pretty over-rated. Guess location means everything.

If your in the Petoskey area, LTBGC, Litttle Traverse Bay Golf Club. Great View and Great Food, expensive but worth it. serving Lunch and Dinner. Dinner is little bit formal no jeans or shorts and T-Shirts, another place is the Pier in Harbor Springs.

If you're going to be all the way to the upper end of the lakes in Superior, WI., might as well cross the bridge into Duluth and go to Grandmas! Great food and drink with a view of the lake.

A second for that one. Giant burgers, great fries, great beer, nautical atmosphere. the barmaid who is more colorfully tattooed that the sunday comics is great. Best bartender who has ever served me. Being right in the seediest part of Superior only adds to its charm. Highly recommended.

I recommend taking a picnic lunch and finding a secluded spot along Lake Superior! :)

Vegas Kewadin Casino in da Soo for their buffet. Surf and turf on Saturday night was unending crab legs and shrimp etc. Regular buffet during the week is excellent.

This reminds me of one of those "Man vs. Food" challenges. A few of us gents came up with a couple a few years ago for several ports.
Toledo: Tony Packo's M.O.A.D
Soo Locks: Clydes Big C
I forgot the others but they were monumental and delicious.

Anyone care to post some suggestions? Maybe we can make it an official "Boatnerd vs. Food" Challenge.

Thanks everyone for the replies. As far as Pasties I already have requests from my family about bringing home a cooler full of them. I think they brought home some from the IGA in Newberry last year that were pretty darn good

There is a Clyde's in St. Ignace in case you don't get to the one at the Soo. I wouldn't consider the Antler's in the Soo upscale by any means. You go there for the "kitsch" as Angie said; it's like eating in a barroom/taxidermy shop. The food is decent enough, personally I prefer Frank's Place. Also in the Soo we like Indo-China Garden for their Thai food but the also have good Chinese.

Near Munising on H-13 or Forest Highway is a store called Midway. They have awesome homemade pasties Get there early they sell out fast In Munising is a little store called the Picnic Basket(I recommend her broccolli pasta salad with dill) they will pack you a nice lunch to take to the City park where you can sit and watch the Pictured rock cruise boats leaving the docks. The Antlers in the Soo is great food if you want upscale and not too pricey.I spent 5 months in Munising it is awesome I found the Dog Patch too pricey for what was served. Mackinaw Island I love The GateHouse and their Boneless Hot Wings.
