What is different and good about this event is that it doesn't effect commercial shipping or anything else because of where it is located. Which for good ole fun and a recreational event is how it should be.

It’s a huge party as someone said below that is held every year in June usually around the first day of summer. Hundreds of people perhaps even thousands show up on Gull Island a small island which is located in Lake St. Clair to party and celebrate. Not sure how long it’s been going on for maybe 20 years at least? Not sure if they’d ever had any issues as far as arrests, fights or folks overdoing it and getting too drunk or not as I haven’t heard anything of that nature? Hope that this helps you out.

To the best of my knowledge, the only Jobbie Nooner takes place on a small island located on the south end of the Saint Clair river. the largest Great Lakes fireworks display is held every year on the Detroit river. both events have been covered in the Detroit area news for years.

Considering there are thousands of rivers in the Great Lakes Region and not everyone lives where you do, what river are you referring to??

Once again folks enjoyed the river, without a single problem, to celebrate Jobbie Nooner. everyone enjoyed a good time as we watched over 6 CG boats and 4 home land security boats keep us safe. the crowd size was about 850 and would have been larger if the weather had been sunny. for about 20 years folks have been enjoying this event without a single major problem. everyone is looking forward to enjoying the fireworks next Monday on the Detroit river knowing that the CG and home land security will once again keep us safe.
