What year were the Victory silos built? thanks

Did they only store soya beans there?

Noticed that the steering pole is folded back up to the fifth picture I believe and is back out in the next. Was the clearance that close that they needed it pulled back?

The silos that remain are not used in any way. It was intended that they be torn down at the same time as the others but the whole demolition process was very difficult and was simply abandoned. There have been a number of projects planned for the site but nothing ever comes to fruition. Victory Soya Mills stopped using the waterfront site because it relocated its operations and no longer received or shipped material by ship.

Thanks for sharing great pic. Are these silos scheduled to be demolished as well?

Anyone know the details as to why the Victory silos were torn down and why ships stopped visiting? Thanks.

If anyone else has photos of ships in Toronto Harbour please share them. In all my years of being on boatnerd i'd say they are rare.

If it was 1985 it was my father on the willowglen being the skipper

If it was 1985 it was my father that was the old man on the Willowglen at the time.

Thanks to your picture of the current state of the silos, and locating them on the earlier photo, it allowed me to use Google Maps satellite view to appreciate the seamanship involved. Thank you!

im not sure of the particulars. all i know is it was some time in 85, and these photos are awesome.

Absolutely gorgeous photos, I assume this is 1985 and the Senator and Quedoc and Meldrum bay and others are getting ready for there one way trips to Quebec and scrap yards beyond.
