Call Great Lakes Fleet office located right in Duluth Ann. Ask for the port Captain Ken G. He might be able to figure something out to help with your request.

Interlake Steamship Company often has raffles to win trips aboard our boats, and we definitely have one of the biggest public relations presences on the Lakes. There are quite a few of our boats that load ore out of Duluth, mostly footers. You could contact the office in Cleveland and get in touch with our PR person, she might be able to do something for you. I don't know if they'd let you take a trip or not but at the least they might be able to provide some footage from our boats during our trips to the Lakehead.

ahoy!

rookie here. i'm working on a film that takes place between sister cities, duluth, minnesota and petrozavodsk, russia. one of the things these cities share in common is their mineral mining/shipping. because of that, i'm really looking to do a bit of filming aboard a taconite shipping vessel departing from duluth, but having trouble figuring out exactly which companies and/or ships do the taconite shipping from duluth. i know you can't just ride aboard a freighter, but i'm hoping to gain access as a media member for just a small part of the way and would like to reach out to the companies. could someone point me in the right direction?

all the best!
