McKeil's Leonard M pushing barge MM Newfoundland, loaded with components for DTE's Energy Center in East China, MI, up the St. Clair River - September 30, 2019

Those components weigh a ton, actually several tons. I sent one picture to the moderator to see if the the picture is too big. These tubes will stack on end and become the steam turbine.They will rest on a concrete foundation that was poured on 2400 180 foot long thick wall pipes driven 180 feet into the ground to bedrock to hold the turbine and associated machinery. When I figure a way to shrink and post these pictures I will. To see them unloaded off the barge would be a treat.
If I can send you pictures and you can shrink them, I will.

For those following, the tug Molly M I arrived at St. Clair today towing another barge with components for the plant. Three more barges are en route and will arrive today, the Leonard M with one, U.S. tug Sea Crescent with the second, and the Evans McKeil with the third.

I agree about marine city,, spent lots of energy pulling and swearing at that Unload facility. Don’t remember Fairport being bad but maybe has changed over the years since I sailed in and out of that port. US gypsum in south Chicago was another nightmare, lol.

its an absolute nightmare of a dock, as well as fairport harbor's

Is this also true of the Marysville facility?

I should also add, the "dock" at Marine City is used only for unloading stone and aggregates. Heavy lift cargo could not be unloaded there as the boats sit in the river with lines out rather than tie up to an actual dock. It's what is known as a workboat dock because the ship's crew has to use their workboat to run lines and people ashore.

No, the Moore and its barge cannot carry heavy lift deck cargoes. The tug Mary E. Hannah and barge Lake Trader has the first load of components for this project. Several more barges will reportedly follow.

The construction crew at the new Blue Water Energy Center was to take delivery of large construction equipment Tuesday or Wednesday 9/24 or 9/25. This is highly specialized and heavy Mammoet machinery. I see on AIS that Olive L. Moore is tied up at Marine City. Is this the heavy equipment for the construction?
