The bars are still there, just not open, well there is still one open but its a biker bar now, not a seaman in sight...............

I had a bike which I carried down the boarding ladder and used that to get around in various ports.

That's going back a very long time as there haven't been tugs in Conneaut since at least the early 80s.

I sailed from 1971-79. When you say "a very long time", don't remind me. I was young back then.

I do remember the launch from when I sailed in the 60s.

My first time seeing the Canadian Century (Now John D Leitch) was in Conneaut. I was on the Calcite II, and I slept aft. After waking up one morning and walking to the galley via the fantail I was startled by the tall building directly on our stern - the forward end of the Canadian Century towering over the Calcite II.

That's going back a very long time as there haven't been tugs in Conneaut since at least the early 80s.

Thank you for the info. I new the slip was wide enough because we had waited on the west side for a coal load when the Blough was there at the hopper and there was plenty of room to spare. What confused things is one of the reports made it sound like the Transhipment was going on when the PI was there and I new that wouldn't fit.
I do remember unloading at P&C, B F Affleck was on the west side waiting with a load of limestone and the venerable Pinedale slipped right between us outbound with coal.

Speer moved out of the way and Presque Isle unloaded to the dock.

When PI arrived, between CSL transloads, Speer moved across the dock to the west face and PI backed into the east face dock. The slip doesn't look very big in video or satellite views, but there is sufficient room between two 100+ foot beam vessels.
For each Atlantic Huron's and Tadoussac's transload, GLT tug Iowa was on hand for a period of time to help the vessels readjust for the next hatch to be loaded.

To be more specific, did the Presque Isle come in and unload while the transhipment was going on or did they slip in and out between the Atlantic Huron leaving and the CSL Tadoussac loading?

I'm hoping Pazzo can help layout how if the Speers was unloading into the CSL Tadoussac, the Presque Isle could possibly fit into the harbor and if they unloaded onto the transhipment pike?

Noticed on Marine Traffic that the Speer is still in Conneaut and now the Presque Isle has arrived there too. Any possible transfers with these two behemoths and is the Presque Isle directly doing its unload in Conneaut or doing a ship-to-ship transfer of its unload? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

This is my take on the two's intimate exchange, as taken from my drone. And for whatever it's worth, rumors on the shore say that CSL Tadoussac will be receiving the balance of the Speer's load. However, she is undergoing repairs on the River Rouge currently. I hope to have the time and weather to get some footage of that transload as well.
