Tug that sank was named 'Little Tug'. Sank Friday in 26ft of water, raised Monday. Saw pic on Facebook. Remarks said was a 2-man tug.

The Selvick was intentionally sunk east of Grand Island, north of Munising, as part of the Alger Underwater Preserve. It's a nice dive at a relatively shallow depth.

The Steven M. Selvick was scuttled in the 1990s.

Is this the tug in question? Looks more like a work boat, I will email a friend who lives up there and find out if he already has dove it.

I thought they sunk a defunct tug in the Marquette area as an artificial reef in the late 1990's. i don't know why but the photos that I have seen made it look like it was a former Selvick tug. It may have been done in Munising instead. Not 100% sure.

I've been looking for the name of the tug that sank but haven't found it. However, it is small enough that it may be exempt from federal registration (under 5 net tons) and is only registered with the state. If so, it does not need to have a name.

Here are two online articles, but they don't provide much information:

Didn't Gallagher Marine keep their little tug called the Bee Jay near the upper harbor dock? Image

My son showed me video a friend of his shot of a small tug that has apparently foundered between the upper and lower harbor in Marquette, Michigan.

Has anyone else heard about this?
