I well remember the day that this story broke on Boatnerd. I initially didn't check the news that day thinking to myself how boring things had been in recent weeks and that I probably wasn't missing anything (boy was I wrong). Quite an unexpected event, but thankfully nobody was hurt when she went down.

the tug thay was towing the algport, pacific hickory use to push the barge sarah spencer on the great lakes as the atlantic hickory. seen it once in manitowoc unloading at the grain hopper. built as the irving miami it use to tow news print barges from saint john, n.b. to florida. its has since been scrapped. it wintered one year in port colborne minus the sarah spencer
