Thanks for the replies. I did see where the Compass left Thunder Bay and went through the Soo Locks last night, heading for Detroit. I'm wondering if when they got to Owen Sound on Saturday, the ice was too thick for them to get in (the Bay is open but the port was iced over) and there were no icebreakers available in the area so Algoma decided to squeeze in one last trip. Maybe they'll be back when they finish in Detroit. We'll see.

Algoma Compass downbound at the Soo midnight Wednesday, apparently enroute to Detroit. Last time I checked, lay-up still shows Owen Sound.

Hi JP, the Compass went to Thunder Bay and loaded coal or coke I believe it is for Zug Island in Detroit/Ecorse and the Rouge Shortcut Canal Dock there. I think Marine Traffic may have her AIS listed as Detroit now? Hope that my information helps you out. Stay Safe & Warm Friend.

Does anyone know why the Algoma Compass switched its lay-up location to Thunder Bay? As far as I know it was in Owen Sound on Saturday morning, which according to Boatnerd's lay-up page and local media it was staying for winter lay-up. Drove though the port this afternoon and there was no sign of it. I checked Marine Traffic and now it is in Thunder Bay. Any idea why it left Owen Sound? Thanks in advance for any replies.
