As of 3:45 pm ET on October 7, the Burns Harbor departed from Sturgeon Bay and is back out again after getting repairs made. From Marine Traffic’s website, they left Sturgeon Bay today around 11 AM or so.

The Cort has had immense downtime this year with propulsion issues, and the Oberstar had an incredibly costly grounding last year that left them out of service for months. Add in another grounding this spring for the Jackson.

Just more 50+ year old ship problems.Mainline or ASC if you prefer doesn’t have the $ funds to keep these old ships up.they mostly only react when there’s a calamity. The amount of engine/ propulsion issues groundings and other breakdowns shows they are operating on a shoe string.sad state of affairs to a once proud company.

It looked like the port engine wasn’t running when it was backing in so something must be wrong along that side. No smoke from the stack or wash from the propellor. Not sure what exactly may be wrong, though.

Just noticed on the Marine Traffic website, as I type this now at 9:45 a.m. ET on Sunday, September 27 the Burns Harbor arrived at Sturgeon Bay after they had unloaded in Burns Harbor! Anyone know the reasons that they are in Sturgeon Bay then? Vessel Repairs or Lay Up? Any info is appreciated and TIA.
