In typical U.S. Government fashion they will study it to death, make a choice (typical wrong), and be too late to make a difference.

Discovery Channel had a great 1 hour show on Asian Carp the other night. The carp are very rare and a popular delicacy in China. Exporters anyone? Same reason they brought them here. The carp in China are also very docile, no jumping. The host and production folks grilled some up. Said they were very tasty. If Americans could get past the idea that they were carp and tasted bad we could eat them to extinction. Bon appétit.

They need to close the locks and fix the problem before it's to late. The carp have a real good chance of killing everything. Where are the ECO Warriors when you need them?

Regarding shutting down the lock, Canada has, what I consider, an operable option. They have a Marine Railway at Big Chute on the Trent-Severen Waterway.

With this syatem, the boats are taken out of the water on a big sling and re-deposited at the end of the railway.

I suspect th e same syatem could be used to isolate the lakes from the river.

Just a thought.

Just curious, with all the justifiable attention being paid to the Asian carp being found in Lake Calumet and the other states legal proceedings to close off the affected waters from Lake Michigan - what if any has the Canadian response been? Obviously there is a huge economic interest there as well as sovereignity issues over there waters being affected. Anyone heard anything?
