This grain elevator fire occured January 21, 1978 at the Multifoods Elevator No.4. Parts of the burning elevator fell on the Harry L. Allen tied up for the winter, which was badly damaged and later sold for scrap. I am sure the Canal Park Visitors Center can help you with before and after pictures.

When I was growing up in Duluth I recall a pretty major explosion and fire at one of the (Cargill?) grain elevators. This would have been the late 1970's. I was curious if there was any photogaphs of the before or after destroyed elevator in question. I do recall seeing the flames from our house on Skyline Parkway, pretty big blaze.
