The first *Patricia Hoey* was built 1951 at New Orleans by Alexander SYsInc as *Messenger* for Suderman & Young Towing CoInc., Houston. She became *Patricia Hoey* in 1984, then *New Hampshire,*Sachem,* *Sea Tractor,* and *Shark.* When Florida Marine Terminal, Inc., came into difficulty she was laid up at Miami and was dropped from documentation on 31 August 2006.
The second *Patricia Hoey* was built 1949 by Alexander for Barworth Corp., Houston, as *Propeller.* She became Gaelic's *Bantry Bay* in 1982 and *Patricia Hoey* in 1991.
The present *Carolyn Hoey* (built 1951 as *Atlas* by Alexander for Barworth and sister of the *Propeller*) also has a 360-degree pilothouse.
