Sorry for the delay as I was on the road conducting aviation safety data collection, but I wanted to express my gratitude for receiving your replies!

Hello,

I've been using Photoshop along with Lightroom for several years now and use Adobe's subscription service. The benefit of using Adobe's subscription service is that you always have the latest release. Adobe releases major updates to their photo-editing software in October and April, with minor releases that cover any bugs throughout the year. The benefit to that is say if you're using Windows 10/11 and Microsoft releases a patch for those operating systems and it has bugs in it, it could possibly (rare, but it has happened) cause stability issues with Adobe's software. Adobe will often issue patches to fix those stability issues.

However, there is Photoshop Elements, which you have written you are using. Do you find Photoshop Elements limiting in your work-flow?

In regards to the subscription service of Adobe's software, you only pay the subscription fee once a year, you don't make monthly payments to use the software. In my case I use the Photography Plan from Adobe and it gives me several programs, such as: Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom (cloud based), Adobe Lightroom Classic, Premiere Rush (video editing/creation) , Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for Mobile, several other programs along with 20GB of cloud storage.

A couple of other free software program for photediting I'm aware of are GIMP and Raw Therapee (has a steep learning curve).

All the best.

I use a FREE program called "Faststone Image Viewer", and have been doing so for many years. I have posted thousands of images on several vessel information sites and find this program more than adequate. There are also several others and I have never paid for photo software.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with photo editing software outside of Photoshop? I realize that Photoshop is considered to be the best of this type of software and I would have no problem purchasing it outright, but it appears that it is only offered as a subscription service and I don't like the idea of having a perpetual bill each month to use the program. I currently have Photoshop elements 2022 but was wondering if anyone has any experience with any other high-end photo editing software other than the full version of photoshop?
