Cedarglen Question

by Guest » October 21, 2022, 8:20 am

Back in what I believe was in the 2010s time period, the Cedarglen had a section of its starboard bridge wing removed. I recall this was to allow it to load at the iron ore gravity dock in Marquette, Michigan. I believe that it only loaded once at that dock, but I may be mistaken. Did CSL intend to use this ship to carry several loads from Marquette for some particular contract? It seems like the Cedarglen never became a regular caller at Marquette so it seems strange that CSL would have gone to the expense of modifying the ship for a single cargo. Even though the removal of the bridge wing section seems, at face value anyways, to be a minor modification would this have required any regulatory approvals and/or inspections prior to being returned to revenue service?
