Permit me, old fogey that I am becoming, to comment on nomenclature for Coast Guard vessels.
US Coast Guard vessels are usually referred to as "Cutter", as in United States Coast Guard Cutter Oak. USCGC
Canadian Coast Guard vessels are mostly referred to a "Ship", as in Canadian Coast Guard Ship Griffon. CCGS
In the Canadian Coast Guard "Cutter" usually refers to smaller vessels such as the 47 foot Search & Rescue Cutters, which are the same design as the USCG 47 foot SAR Cutters.
Thank you.
