I had a feeling that was what they were there for considering the presence of piping or electrical conduit where the cans are hanging. Seems like there would be a better way to seal up these locations to prevent water entry to start with however.

To catch drips from leaks where wiring or plumbing is run through the overhead.

Does anyone know the purpose of the two cans hanging from the ceiling of the Philip R. Clarke's pilothouse in the image posted on the August 23, 2023 Port Reports page? They appear to be either coffee or paint cans painted gray.
