Port HUron to Sarnia Foot Ferries

Back in the 1950s, there was a foot ferry service between Port Huron, Michigan, and Sarnia, Ontario, utilizing two ferries. These were named the City of Port Huron and the City of Sarnia and were former landing craft modified to carry passengers. From what I have found out online it appears that this service ended in 1957. I recall that during the mid to late 1980s what appeared to be a former World War II landing craft sitting on the shores of the Black River where M-25 (Pine Grove Ave) runs along a bend of the river just north of the Blue Water Bridge between Holland Avenue and North River Road. This area is now Bakersfield Park. I'm wondering if the landing craft I recall seeing at this location was actually the City of Sarnia as it was removed from documentation in 1958. Meanwhile, the City of Port Huron sank in the Atlantic in 1966.
