USACOE reported today's daily average flow at the USGS Fox River at Oil Tank Depot at Green Bay, WI gage is approximately 13,300 cfs. Based on today's readings, flows at Green Bay are now below 15,000 cfs. Flows are expected to be near 10,000 cfs by tomorrow (May 13th) and below 10,000 cfs by May 14th. However, there is 0.25 to 0.50 inches of precipitation forecast in the National Weather Service's 5-day outlook with rain forecast for today and a chance for showers on Friday and then Saturday night into Sunday. More water in the watershed may affect the projected timing.

Erieborg also diverted to K&K’s Menominee, Michigan dock to unload. Eeborg remains anchored north of the channel entrance. Learned last week, that some fleets, like Algoma, have policy prohibiting entered rivers or ports when flow > 10,000 cfs. Takes it away from the Captain, but relieves the Captain of that stress.

Flows are expected to be near 10,000 cfs by May 14th and below 10,000 cfs by May 15th. Erieborg diverted to the K&K Menominee, Michigan dock. Edenborg and Eeborg remain anchored north of the channel entrance.

Cheboygan is also one of their main unloading ports and US Oil dock there was unavailable due to flooding on the Cheboygan River the past few weeks

Speculation:

Yesterday there was a Special Green Bay Harbor Commission meeting with stakeholders and the US Army Corps of Engineers. It was was informative. Learned much about the upper Fox River System and the constraints on, and tradeoffs, on water flow. It was a flood event never recorded before.

Tanker Algotitan, from Sarnia, Ontario, is anchored north of the channel entrance with the Edenborg, and the Erieborg. Eeborg is in the St.Clair River on its way here to join them. The latter three are loaded with Finnish wood pulp. Albert/Margaret waited for a while last month but then diverted to Milwaukee as did the Amrize boats.

Port is likely safe for vessel traffic about May 15 when river flow projected to be reduced to about 10,000 cubic feet per second (“CFS”). The Alpena would try when it gets to 12,000 CFS. Currently flow is 17,000 CFS. So Albert/Margaret cannot get into Green Bay for over a week.

Not headed off lakes.

Noticed on Marine Traffic that Tug Albert with her fuel Barge have a destination listed as Montreal. This is a uncommon port of call for this pair. Anyone know if she's headed off lakes or just whats going on with her?
