Does anyone know of a good source for historic Ice data for the St. Lawrence river and Gulf of St. Lawrence? I am particularly trying to figure out average and earliest ice formation at a few different spots.

I want to see if the unused MF/HF radio that is on the tug I am on works. Does anyone know of any marine broadcasts that you can pick up from the lakes?

If anyone know of a source for all ships entering leaving the system that would be really useful.

Also any historic data, most of the ports seem to only have current vessels and the internet archive only has a few days captured.

Does anyone know if there is a source for info on the the origin of inbound cargoes and the destination of outbound cargoes of salties?

I can find the info for a few individual ports but as far as I can find nothing on the seaways site.

Has anyone here taken Meteorology level 2 (Transport Canada)? Any tips on good books to work from?

All the ships I have worked on have wifi onboard that works most of the time. I believe the last one was a hybrid system that would connect to to cell towers when they were in rang and satellite when it could not.

I have a bunch of Nautical books, I am locate in Kingston, Ontario and happy to mail and to make a deal for multiple items off the list.

I cannot remember the exact numbers but as an OS with Algoma 4 years ago The base hourly rate was in the low 20s (CAD), but you would get more then that on weekends and would get quite a lot of overtime (changes with vessel and trade).
