Re: Engineer’s Day Records for boats

We were up there a few years ago when it was foggy the night before. The next day (Engineers Day) there were like 27 boats up and down. Very fun day!

Saw that too. Saw somewhere that the Cort is going in early now. Feel bad for the crew who had plans to be home or other places for the holidays

Re: School shooting

As far as the Westboro Church goes, I would like to know who provides these people with funds. The money has to come from somewhere, or else they wouldn't be able to travel the country spreading their hate. While I fully support the freedom of speech and expression, as they are among the ...

Re: Soo Locks ETA phone number or website

I heard during Engineers day they are restoring the buildings on the east and west ends by removing the observation platforms from the roofs.

Someone also thought the new viewing platform was going to be totally enclosed with glass. I hope they do not as it is very nice the way it is.

Re: soo boatnerd weekend

It was a great weekend, sorry to see it end so soon. Friday was crazy with all the boat traffic. Sunday morning at the Rock Cut was an excellent viewing experience with the Burns Harbor and Algosoo passing downbound.

Re: Who Is at Soo Ont?

The Orsula has been there since Thursday and is unloading both bulk and bagged cargo of some sort. Not sure what the cargo was. One of the cranes was using a clam shovel and the other had a rack with 8 or 10 hooks on it they were attaching the bags to. Long slow process.

I can grab some curds but have to warn you that what we get this far north are already a few days old. To overcome that we have learned to nuke them for a few seconds to bring back the squeakiness... Looking forward to being there.

In Grand Marais check out the Lake Superior brewing Company. Good sandwiches, Great locally brewed barley pop. Their Agate Ale is worth the trip if you like a darker beer.

Up at Copper Harbor we enjoyed the Harbor Haus for German cuisine.

Re: Visiting Duluth

Canal Park and the Maritime museum are your first stops in Duluth. Dinner right next door at Grandma’s is always a good choice. While you’re in the area take part of a day and drive up the north shore on hwy 61 to Two Harbors, Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls and you will not be ...
