John Muson towing the Irvin Clymer

Just read the book "The Bradley Boats" and it states that the John Munson towed the Irvin Clymer from Manitowoc to Calcite when she was being repowered. She also towed the B.H. Taylor when she was repowered and I was wondering if there's any photos out there of this being done.

TIA

J. G. Munson towing the I. L. Clymer

While reading the book "The Bradley Boats" it states that the John Munson towed the Irvin Clymer when she was being repowered in late 1953 from Manitowoc to Calcite. Does anyone have photos of this?

Ashland Ore Docks

I'm looking for information and photos of the docks (preferably in use) in Ashland, Wisconsin. I'm currently working on a coffee table book, I've even gone to our local museum and there's not alot of photos or detailed information. I'm also looking for any personal stories of any who has worked on t...

Re: Algorail

Another interesting note, they still show the Algosteel. Glade to see the Algocape is still on their list, but sad to not see the Canadian Miner, Algontario, Algonorth, Gorden Leitch, and Canadian Ranger.

Re: ASC Flag

I purchased a Great Lakes Fleet Flag with the White, black and red triangles for $100 at a silent auction, and I've been searching for 5 years and this was my first time seeing one and I think I've only seen one ASC flag that went for about the same

Re: Superior Entry web cam?

Still pretty rough, they did pave some of it but the last half is horrible, they have fill in some pot holes with gravel which helps for part of the yr. Winter in the best time to drive out there

Re: Engine room crew: wiper

I was a wiper on the Anderson in 06 for a few weeks at the end of the season and its pretty much whatever they tell you to do. Myself I painted, swept/mopped, ran the incinerator. I also did deckhand work.

Re: AAA's

All 3 were converted to selfunloaders one right after the other by Fraser Shipyards. Each were converted off of the same plans, so there shouldn't be any differences. Unless they've been altered since then.

She also has hydraulic rams that vibrate the sides of the cargo holds, allowing her to haul cargoes like tailings.

Not to talk down to the guy who runs Duluth Shipping News but it's not always very accurate but I'm very grateful he does what he does.

Duluth Lay up

Does anyone know who will be laying up in the Duluth-Superior area this winter? I know so far that the James R Barker is and the American Integrity is possibly.
