Re: Algoma Enterprise

Do they run the ships up onshore in any way to assist the scrapping process like that done in places like Turkey? Look in the Welland Canal group on Facebook, there are pics of it coming up on shore. However, they do not run the ships up on shore. They are pulled up on air bags. Apparently this is ...

Re: Last ship of the 2020 Naviation Season - Welland Canal

Scheduled closure was Noon on January 8. However, the last ship Mississagi was downbound early on January 7 and they started draining after that. Note, they will not be draining between Lock 1 and 2 because the CSL Assiniboine is docked at the dry dock fit-out wall.

Re: Winter Drydockings/layups

Cuyahoga, Algoma Hansa and Algocanada are all in Sarnia at the moment for now. This question though is off topic but, What is up with the Algoma Hansa? They've been in Sarnia according to the Lay Up List since September at least and hasn't moved or done any trips since then? They are at the Sidney ...

Re: Last ship downbound

I believe that Algonorth was the last downbound vessel in the Seaway. https://www.facebook.com/groups/985794125135584/permalink/1313209542394039/ Tim S Dool was upbound two locks to Cote Ste Catherine for layup after the official closure at noon Dec 31. https://www.facebook.com/groups/98579412513558...

Re: Algoma Enterprise

Via the AIS, I see the Algoma Enterprise has been sitting off Port Colborne for 2 days at anchor and it appears the Algoma Transport is sitting at or very close to the scrap yard at Port Colborne. Why is the Enterprise at anchor and why is the Transport at the scrap yard? Don't know why the Enterpr...

Re: Algoma Harvester

Was curious as to the lack of discussion regarding the Algoma Harvester? It seems like it would be a much bigger deal on this site than it currently is. Was just wondering why the lack of interest, that's all. Not sure what to say...looks like she docked in Hamiolton for winter layup on Dec 28th. N...

Never mind the Gulf, no ship over 740 goes into the Welland Canal or St Lawrence Seaway.

Could be used to run salt out of Goderich this winter. Algoma has done this with other soon-to-be-retired ships.

Re: Algoma Discovery

She left winter layup in Montreal on Sept 25. Stopped before she entered the St Lambert Lock, and was subsequently towed back to Montreal. Not sure what day that was. Obviously they worked on the problem, because she was on the way again late on Sept 29 or very early this morning.

Re: ZEA Servant - in Port Robinson loading 9/19

She docked at the stone dock (#12) in Port Colborne for a bit of time. I don't think she loaded anything while there, but don't know for sure. She loaded a huge scrubber into her hold while in Port Robinson. There are videos at the Welland Canal group on Facebook.

Re: ZEA Servant - in Port Robinson loading 9/19

A large air scrubber was loaded into the hold from a barge – cargo apparently headed to Kentucky via the Mississippi. Still there today so may be loading more. Check the Welland Canal group on Facebook for pictures and videos.

Looks like it means the dry dock. Currently on the schedule for Lock 1 but not Lock 2
