Tug George Lamont tragedy
Tug George Lamont tragedy
A correction to yesterday's "Today in Great Lakes History". The tugboat Lamont did not "dissappear" during her ill-fated race. She was caught up in heavy seas and capsized 3 miles offshore. Her hull was found floating turtle the next day and washed ashore without her engines. The tug was recovered and broken up a short time later. The remains of the father and son were also recovered but the third person was never found.
