Yes, this is what I came across while reading through some of my, very old, marine journals I had collected in my younger years!Guest wrote:Are you referring to the grounding of the John Sherwin on November 28, 1976? The March/April 1977 issue of Telescope does not mention an "Escanaba Shoal", it only says that she, "ran aground about a mile from Escanaba in northern Green Bay, while en-route to Ashtabula".

Escanaba Shoal
Re: Escanaba Shoal
Re: Escanaba Shoal
Little Bay De Noc Buoy 8, now marks the shoal referred to.
The Shoal was created from dredge spoil from building the Ore Docks at Escanaba.
The Crane Boat Buckeye, also grounded there in the late 70's

I wonder if this is the Minneapolis Shoal that is east of the main shipping lane 3 miles south of Peninsula Point?

Escanaba Shoal
I recently came across a reference to an Escanaba Shoal in an old marine journal from the 1970s. I have never heard of this, but I'm assuming it is in Lake Michigan near Escanaba as the name implies?
