Makes me wonder all the more why they scrapped the James Norris with her pristine hull, if they're not getting out of this business like has often been speculated here in recent years.
Didn't ULS even order an engine for her to repower her with, that Algoma ended up selling instead of following through with?
She did have a smaller capacity than Algoma's own river class vessels or these upcoming newbuilds, so I suppose that Algoma Central may have viewed that as more of a negative than ULS apparently did.
Anyways, nice to see clear confirmation that Algoma isn't getting out of this business. I was pretty much convinced that they were, and that they were just keeping the Algoway and the Algorail going until their remaining contracts that required less than Seawaymax size vessels concluded.

The 3 Maj shipyard in the Croatia (the same yard that built Guardian, Discovery and Spirit) has announced a contract with Algoma to build two 24,900 ton (i.e. 650 size) capacity self unloaders. These will be bow mounted units intended to replace Algoway and Algorail for delivery in 2017.
