Where did you get that photo if I may ask, I have that very same photo framed on my wall, and have been trying to ID its origin for a while, my photo is a bit of a wider shot but is totally identical right down to the man hosing the deck about midship on the starboard side.

Her stern cabins are correct for the time period. They were enclosed when she was converted to a self unloader and re-engined. (Forward house lost the guest quarters at the same time). The model stern is inaccurate, but a reasonable attempt at shaping it from a solid piece of wood or whatever.

Again, this is not a builders model. It would have been made to proper planned scale, not be painted to show weathering, and not be made out of crudely shaped wood. "Builders model" was just included in the listing title to draw hits; it was never mentioned in the actual description.

The stern of themodel is all wrong. You could not walk around the cabins, and she had a clipper stern. I miss that boat, many fond memories.

Her stern was of the type shown as built. The enclosed stern you describe came later in her life.

In her earlier life, the Frantz had three cabins forward, later reduced to two. I just saw a "builder's model" of the Frantz on EBay showing two cabins aft as well as three forward. Did she ever actually have a double cabin aft?

Nobody seems to have addressed that double cabin aft. For that reason I believe the comment doubting that it was a builder's model. The William G. Mather and the J.H. Frantz were identical except for the three cabins forward (later reduced to two) on the Frantz. The Mather never had a double cabin aft.

That looks a lot like the Voco/Bearco Marine Model HO scale kit that someone made into a version of the Frantz.

I saw the eBay Frantz model listing too. It is no longer an active listing but I found it just now as a "completed" listing. It is eBay # 360355274224

If you go to the Home Page and enter "frantz" in the search engine, you will find a number of photos. It appears that she lost a forward deck sometime between the time when she was a straight-decker and became a self-unloader.
