Is there a possibility of any ASC ship becoming available in the near future that GLF could acquire as they did when they chartered the American Republic several years ago? If so, that could impact the future of this ship especially if it requires some major work. Could the "parting out" rumor be related to keeping the other two steamers operating with the prospect of repowering the Anderson in the near future?

With only one spare boat for GLF the past few years and usually one of the AAA, I highly doubt they would part out the Anderson.
Even during slower times, one boat on the wall is good insurance in case of emergencies and with iron ore/pellet/limestone demand on the rise it it makes even less sense to write off the Anderson.

Having been on her recently, she has not been parted out. There's some talk of working being done this working on her but that's what they said last summer also.

Just talked with a friend who works for GLF and was on the Anderson last season. He told me they have started to part her out and is most likely done. They also don’t want to pay for her 5 yr. Just passing on what I was told.

I'm not doubting what you were told, but why would she be done ? She's the same age as the other two AAA's and their careers have been similar. What would make her the one to be retired ? The U.S. economy seems strong and I think US Steel would benefit. Just my opinion...

I did read that Fraser was doing work on her, which is a great sign. However, CN declining to comment on the state of the vessel gave me a bit of an unsure feeling. I don't think we have to worry about her future, at least for the time being. I believe she goes this spring, and I think that perhaps the Clarke will get next year off if there is going to be an AAA on the side. She hasn't had much time off and is the workhorse of the three (IMO). Quite honestly, though, I think the entire GLF will be out this spring. Iron ore shipments are optimistic and I think there will be enough demand. It would neither surprise me if the Edward L. Ryerson or John Sherwin started to show up in conversations. The US economy is getting stronger while the Canadian economy seems to be having some issues, at least the beginnings of some issues. The million dollar question is regarding the American Steamship steamers bought by Algoma and what happens to them in the near future. I really hope that we get a couple years out of them at least!

Is she coming out next season ? In today's news it sounds like they're working on her this winter. Will another GLF boat stay at the wall in 2018 ? TIA
