Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
Nearing the Straits of Mackinac as of 4:30 PM 6-4-18 so definitely looks like a Lake Michigan delivery.

Thanks everyone for all of your help on tracking the Sykes along with her destination. Although it’s unfortunate she’s not headed Southbound at least I don’t have to worry now about missing her this week with my other appointments that I have. Again, thanks for all your help folks.

Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
Looks like the Sykes cleared Calcite around 12:30 today and headed northbound. No update on its AIS yet, but most assuredly a destination on Lake Michigan or Lake Superior.

Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
Still anxious to find out where she’s going and need to know soon as I got appointments this week for Tuesday and Wednesday and I cannot get out of them sorry to say! So a destination update is needed soon and badly and if they are headed South toward the St. Clair River then, any ETAs are very much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance here.

Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
As of 09:00, Sykes & H. Lee White are at the facility with Great Republic at anchor in the harbor, waiting for space. (In my 14 years as a Boatnerd, I've never seen Sykes, but that's not an option for me today!)

Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
As of 0700 on 6-4-18, the Sykes is still at Calcite. I do not see any updated destination in their AIS information as of yet. Perhaps a run into the Saginaw River or down towards Lake Erie? Of possibly back to Lake Michigan? I guess we won't know for sure until it turns to either port or starboard after leaving Calcite.

Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
They are now due at 2 P.M. on Sunday, June 3, 2018 according to the lineup loading at the North Dock. Also expected today as well is the H. Lee White at 8 P.M. for the North Dock. Two more are due in on Monday the Great Republic at 2 A.M. and the Cason J. Callaway at 2 P.M. both loading at the South Dock. I don't think the Sykes will have any delays but, lots of traffic scheduled at least for the loading docks there in the next couple of days. Good time to get out and see the activity if you can and for photo opportunities as well. Would love to see some photos of the Sykes loading at Calcite on the KYS Facebook page and hope that there are some posted!

Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
They must have got delayed some or a slow unload as when I checked the lineup this morning, they were still on for Saturday evening arrival at 9 P.M. at the North Dock. I haven’t check the lineup since earlier this morning though so I’m sure it’s changed since then. Thanks garbear!

The Sykes departed Burns Harbor at 16:41 and is showing a Calcite ETA of 23:30 on Sunday.Denny wrote:Here's the latest update and the Sykes is still due at Calcite to load on Saturday. The Cason J. Callaway was due to arrive on Friday evening for the North Dock at 7 P.M. but they should be loaded and gone by the time the Sykes arrives Saturday evening. I still need to know from anyone and have not heard as yet to where the load on the Sykes will be headed to? I have to believe 100% that this load is headed to the lower lakes somewhere but just where and what port? Anyone that knows or has information on this rare trip and load from the Sykes is appreciated. It's important to me that I see the Sykes boatnerds as I don't and can't afford to miss her if she is headed down the St. Clair River. So a destination and port update along with any ETAs if she is headed down at least on the St. Clair River would be most helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
My mistake. I was looking at the Joe Block. The Sykes is still in Burns Harbor. Right fleet, wrong boat.

Re: Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
Thanks for the heads up on that garbear. I haven’t yet made my annual round of Marine Traffic yet and checked on her. I guess I should’ve knew better than to take it per granted that she would go to Calclite since she loads mostly at either Port Inland or Cedarville. Again Thanks for that.

Wilfred Sykes at Calcite?
Heads up all boatnerds and boat/shipwatchers as this Saturday in Rogers City or Calcite you will get a very rare surprise visitor and a treat of a lifetime! The Wilfred Sykes is headed to Calcite and is due there to load on Saturday at noon and will be at the North Dock as well. Surely this is definitely a rare trip and not sure if she has ever loaded at Calcite although I'm sure she has but it's been many years and seasons I'm sure. Does anyone have any guesses as to where this rare trip and load will be headed? Hey Roger, you seem to know a lot about the Sykes and also you and Captain Eric are pretty close and tight! Any way or chance of finding out where this load and trip is headed to? If they are downbound and headed toward the St. Clair and Detroit Rivers, Sunday unfortunately does not work well at all for me but I'm sure I can make arrangements and find a way somehow to get to the river to see this beauty and gem of a boat! All I need though is where this load is headed and any early and possible ETAs for the St. Clair River area. I'll try and do my best to keep up to date on the Calcite lineup and her arrival there this weekend. Thanks to anyone and everyone for any help on this. Can't afford to miss the Sykes since the last time I saw her ironically was late May 2005 and I've yet to see and photograph her on my digital camera. This is definitely one I don't want to miss so besides the usual Marine Traffic and Boatnerd AIS, I could use all the help I can get in tracking this one boatnerds. Thanks again!
