If you go to the Library of Congress website ( https://www.loc.gov ) and search for the "Historic American Engineering Record", and then search for "Whiskey Island", you will get a whole series of results for the "Pennsylvania Railway Ore Dock, Lake Erie at Whiskey Island" which contains some great photographs of the Hulett ore unloaders as well as the bridge crane that were at that dock. Included among the results is a rather nice plan view of the bridge crane and a Hulett as well.

I've included the direct link to the bridge crane result below, you can download a large image from that page. I know some people don't like to follow random links which is why I explained how to get to the page first.

I just remembered, if you go to Google Books and search for "brownhoist" there are a couple of old catalogs I guess you could call them from the "Brown Hoisting Machinery Company" which made a lot of the shore based ship unloading equipment around the lakes in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. I can't remember if there are plan views, but there are a lot of pictures of bridge cranes and etc.

Bridge Crane Plans

Unread post by GrohsPhotography »

Hello, I’m seeking blueprints or plans of a bridge crane used at many coal docks and steel mills around the region for a model railroad. Does anyone know where I may find a set?

Thanks in advance.
