I have been interpreting that phrase, along with pictures and video of the incident, to mean that the explosion and fire was the result of a failure in one of the blast furnaces stoves instead of the blast furnace itself. The dome part probably indicates it occurred near the top of the stove as they tend to be dome shaped.

Hi

i read this in the story about the fire in Burns Harbor and i have tied to look it up and come up blank

the statement is

An ArcelorMittal spokesperson told CBS 2 the explosion was caused by a “stove dome failure,”

What is a “stove dome failure,”

i have never heard that term before and can not find it in any maternal i have
