Holy wow Beecher! Wishes for a speedy recovery from your blueprint pal! Don't see us heading your way this season, but I may be in town 8/2 for a meeting and will try to look you up.

Avoid those sidewalks Beecher, they're dangerous! I'm glad to hear you're on the mend.

I was the first to the accident scene last Tuesday while I was out boatwatchin'! I went out to exercise on by bicycle to knock off the 35 pounds I stacked on quittin' smokin'. I went along the east edge of the Cuyahoga Valley in downtown Cleveland lookin' for boats. We have had a good rotation of boats making the Mittal run this year.
I was on the return trip nearly to my building westbound on Huron Ave when I got there. I was doin' about 20 MPH when I traversed from the street to the sidewalk across from the Federal Court House. The bike caught an edge on the apron and dumped me at the scene of the accident. My Face broke my fall first and my knee and elbow followed.
I woke up on a bed in the hallway of a hospital with folks cutting off my clothes. Holy crap I remember thinkin'. My girlfriend did not recognize me when she picked me up. She stayed up and watched me that night I recently learned. She's a keeper maybe...
I get my stitches out in an hour. All week long I pieced together what exactly happened after I was ejected from my bike. I was the one that called 911. I also called my friends who came and picked up my bike. I was talking to everyone but "out of it" according to them. I don't remember a damn thing.
During my recovery over the last week I got greeted once with the song from Queen "I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike". A couple of 'em went to the scene and drew a chalk outline, photographed it, and sent it out. Others send me photos of training wheels and such.
Anyway, I'm bouncing back fast and advice to others is to avoid being the first to the scene of an accident!

Thanks for the info, Beecher.
Sorry we are going to miss the tall ships. I'm going canaling (by car) in Ontario with my Son that week.

FYI - Algosar has been on the river.- The run from Kelleys' is active and supported by a few different boats this year. The American Republic came into Cleveland yesterday. The Mittal run has been supported by a few different boats as well.- The wind has the lake level up a few inches on this side of Erie.- Storm clouds over the lake have been great to watch. Lightning in Downtown at night recently was spectacular.- Tall Ships are soon upon us.- The regional golf courses are in great shape. - The new 'port director started on June 1st. He has yet to appoint some strategic positions that are now vacant. Cross your fingers. We'll see.

Calumet was on the river yesterday. Algoway is on the river now approaching the Carter Rd bridge. Iowa assisted both. One salty is at the Port docks now.
Cleveland activity 1
I saw 2 boats approaching Cleveland Harbor this afternoon. I guessed at the ID on the closest one of 4 miles to be the Michipicoten coming from the east. The furthest one I guessed to be the Dorothy Ann / Pathfinder at 7 miles from the west.
.
Tonight I have heard may whisltes and horns on the river by the Carter Rd. Bridge at the Oxbow. The Algorail and DA/Pathfinder passed on the skinny portion of the river outside my window at the GW dock. There may have been some contact or some incident. There was a USCG boat up on plane with the blue lights 'a spinnin' up river shortly after passing the Algorail and following up after the DA/PF. DA/Pathfinder is working on what looks to be like the Cleveland Rocks/Cleveland's old job right now with her boom out unloading under the bridges. You can probably see her on the TV fox8 live innerbelt bridge cam live right now.
