Still not a bad looking photo Guest, very nice shot of her. Would have loved to been there to see her going Upbound and loaded. Got to see her once on the St. Clair River in 2019 and am glad I did. She was not easy to see and photograph the past couple of years. Although she was going to Conneaut still, not quite as often as she used to do and make.

Not my best picture of the Roger Blough but probably the most unique. The Blough is shown upbound on the St. Clair River at Marysville, Michigan, on a hot summer afternoon in 1998. It had earlier passed downbound for Conneaut, Ohio, but received a change in orders to Gary, Indiana, therefore making what is probably its only upbound voyage with cargo it ever made on the St. Clair River.

Would guess the damage assessments are still going on and quotations for repairs are underway. This all takes time. THEN...the numbers get laid out to leadership and decisions will be made to start the project...or not.
Patience all...

The more important question is whether she will be repaired. The $20 million damage estimate came from the fire chief. No disrespect to him or her but I doubt they are experts in ship damage. I suspect the estimate may change considerably.

"Can" she be repaired? Yes
Will she be repaired? That's a different question.
It will likely come down to a question of dollars and cents. Assuming the value in the contracts to move cargo is there, it will be far cheaper to repair than replace.

Has anyone heard of possible repairs starting on the Roger Blough? Are they awaiting the outcome of the investigation? I'm guessing that the owners would need to sign off on nay work being done.
