What does the crew do when iced in?
Re: What does the crew do when iced in?
Think of a ship as a small mobile city....there is always something that needs to be done. My uncle that sailed on both the lakes and the high seas told us kids one time that the first piece of advice he received on his first sailing job was "Remember this isn't a cruise ship, now get to work."
Re: What does the crew do when iced in?
Day Workers do the same things they do when underway - painting, cleaning, etc. Watch standers still stand watch , engine room still have pumps, and engines running and gages to check, Deck crew have lookout for anchor, weather logs to keep watches to wake and just ordinary Pilot house duties. Very little change if any...
