After loading in Ludington they are now headed for Morrisburg ON on the St Lawrence Seaway.

Thank you for the response. They just delivered to Superior again. I'm guessing that this tug/barge combo have about the longest runs of any on the lakes.

Occidental Chemical Corporation (now Oxy) bought Dow Chemical's calcium chloride operation at Ludington in 2009 and continued the production of calcium chloride from underground brine in solid (flakes and pellets) and liquid for use in de-icing, dust suppression, and other applications.

Spartan/Spartan II

I have been following the tug Spartan and barge Spartan II on AIS over the past month after seeing them pass thru the Straits here in Mackinac City. They take some fairly long trips including to the Lakehead, Bath and also Oshawa ON and went as far as Three Rivers PC all at the sedate lake speed of 8-9 knots. What do they load in Ludington for theses trips? Its also a fine looking tug lol
