Re: Spruceglen
I wish I could help you but I am what you might call "technology impaired"....... heck, I used a laptop for a couple years before I realized it was an etch-a sketch !........ LOL I bet only a fraction of the people here understand that one !
I hope you get things dialed in....... I bet most of the people here would love to see that shot ! Now you have your winter projects to do in regards to organizing and getting familiar with your new computer.
Be well and have a peaceful and relaxing Christmas my friend

Re: Spruceglen
Hi EJB my friend and as always, thanks for your very nice and kind comments as they are always appreciated by me. Glad as well that you enjoy my reports on your favorite and that you appreciate me trying to keep an eye on her then for you as best as I can. I will do my best for you my dear friend whenever I can as far as trying to track her for you sometime. As per your question of “Did I get the two CSL mural ships passing each other in the same photo and shot at the time I saw them pass?” Yes, indeed I did get them both in the same shot as that was really special and very neat and cool to see. Now that I’m done at the river until next Spring, I’m busy trying to edit and work on my digital photos I’ve taken in 2024! I have two computers but one is new and has Windows 11 to which I hate while the other one is 10 and has all the Programs I’m happy and comfortable with using. I’ve used Windows Photo Gallery for years on my photo editing and Picsssa 3 both of which work great for what I need! However, now with my new computer and Windows 11 I’ve lost those two photo programs and I don’t know what I can do to replace them then? I’m still learning the ins and outs of my new computer yet and haven’t used it much. It freaks me out and scares me to death knowing that someday I’m going to lose my old computer that has 10 on it and all of the programs I enjoy using. Well Happy Hollidays my friend. Merry Christmas and best Wishes to you then in 2025!
Re: Spruceglen
Appreciate you keeping an eye on her...... must be there for grain. Hopefully not laying up already !
Great to see the positive reports of your most recent river trips...... seeing the "mural" boats must have been a great thrill-- were you able to get both of them in the same shot ?? that would be wall worthy
We had the Olive M and Menomonie in port yesterday ( according to the reports page ) All I saw were ligths.....otherwise fairly quiet around here. I think it was a spilt cargo though as I don't see much on the pad at Meehkoff's or maybe she added to the piles further upstream at Verplanks.... not sure.

Re: Spruceglen
Hey EJB, just a heads up to you my friend about your boat and favorite the Spruceglen. I see on Marine Traffic that the Spruceglen arrived up in Goderich on December 19th. I’m assuming they are there to load a cargo then at the elevator there? This I think could possibly be the first time to my knowledge that the Spruceglen has ever visited then in Goderich as I don’t recall of her ever going there beforehand unless she did when she was a foreign flagged ship at one time years ago. I don’t ever seem to recall of her going to Goderich when she sailed for the Misener fleet, nor do I recall of her ever laying up in Goderich as well. I wouldn’t think that they are in Goderich then for Winter Layup as it would seem a bit too early for that yet. Just wanted to let you know EJB about your favorite ship. I was lucky to see them twice in 2024 on the St. Clair River then. Hope you get the chance to see them then someday EJB my friend. Merry Christmas my friend and all the best to you in 2025 and a year of good health as well!
Re: Spruceglen
Appreciate the heads-up Denny....... Probably be next year before I get over to your side of the state.
Last few days we've seen the Mark Barker, PM 41 , Herbert C JAckson, and of course the Conquest. Kind of nice just north of here we see the occasional CSL boat going to Muskegon.
I know you seen less footers this year -- but what about the Saginaw river ?? Less aggregate loads as well ??
Be well

Re: Spruceglen
Heads Up EJB as your favorite boat the Spruceglen just entered the Seaway today upbound and their AIS shows a Sarnia Destination! They’re estimated to arrive in Sarnia on Sunday, October 13 in the early morning hours for now. All subject to change of course. I assume they will likely be loading grain from Sarnia once they arrive? I’m sure they will be there loading for a few days then. Hope you get the chance someday my friend to see your favorite ship and boat the Spruceglen! Don’t look like I will ever get to see my favorite the Paul R. Tregurtha or the PRT anytime soon as I just can’t win with them anymore and I have basically just given up all hope of seeing him this year as there’s always next year then. Good Luck though my friend on someday seeing your favorite the Spruceglen then. Stay Safe and Be Well my friend.
Re: Spruceglen
The Spruceglen is down on the St. Clair River and just above Marysville as of 11:25 a.m. ET on October 5 and they are coming from Thunder Bay, Ontario and heading to Montreal, Quebec with wheat. Hope you get the chance to see your favorite EJB sometime.
Re: Spruceglen
Appreciate the heads- up Denny.
Saw the Mark Barker again and looked like the Conquest --- but not sure was a ways off. This was yesterday.

Re: Spruceglen
As of 12:30 pm on October 4, the Spruceglen is just above the Soo Locks heading downbound. Their AIS is showing a Montreal destination coming from Thunder Bay. Hope you get the chance to see your favorite soon EJB.
Re: Spruceglen
You’re right about Autumn Thunder there EJB as it’s coming back in the fall of 2024 and I can’t wait to get the show started up! I’ve made four trips out there to the river so far in 2024 however, two of those I didn’t see any ships they were just “test trips only” to see how well I could manage and deal with things after NOT being able to drive for 6 months and not being at the river since 2023! I passed those two tests with flying colors and then I made one in late July only this time, I had my brother with me. He let me drive so again I could see how well I could manage. This time I saw a couple of ships and NO my favorite the PRT was no where to be found yet I saw the Lee which isn’t bad. Then on August 13th the skies brightened, the heavens opened up! The boatnerd Gods ascended onto me with a message, “This is your day, your time, your shining moment and the day you’ve long been waiting for FINALLY!” I drove out to the river for my very first time but it was something very important and special. The PRT my favorite was headed up in the afternoon and it was just what I needed. That week was very difficult as it was a few days before the date that I had lost my Mom. Also, that same week was 6 years to the last time I made it up to the Soo with my brother and finally it was the last time both my Mom and I would see and visit the Soo in 2010 of that week. I really needed to see the PRT badly and you cannot begin to realize and imagine the feeling I had to see the PRT again and to be back out on the river again. I am ready to see the ships again and bring it on! As they say though in Auto Racing, “Gentlemen Start your Engines!” That’s gonna be me in just a few more weeks. Also, another famous saying, “Let’s get ready to Rumble!”
Re: Spruceglen
I remember Autumn Thunder well !...... I hope you get poking around again to duplicate that ! I still like the idea of you lining up spring visits for DENNY'S SPRING FLING !
Be well

Re: CSL Oakglen updates?
Sorry about that EJB as I forgot about that after I had said and posted that here. You have my solemn pledge along with my badge of honor, courage and wisdom! Never ever will I ever say anything bad or negative about your all time favorite ship and boat again as you have my word on it my dear friend I promise you that in writing! On the flip though, do you remember in 2017 after I had lost my dear Mother I created “Autumn Thunder” for my river trips back then? Well my dear friend, don’t use my saying and my phrase of Autumn Thunder as that is mine forever to keep. I did stuff that Autumn season of 2017 out at the river to this day was incredible, unbelievable along with unimaginable and to this day records then were set and were broken and have since never been touched or even matched or come close! I like to think that my Mom was somehow there in Spirit along with my late Father also! That fall of 2017 and Autumn Thunder, I’ll never forget!

Denny --what have I told you about speaking about the Spruceglen in negative terms ! LOL
