Just to be clear, Key Lakes isn't a subsidiary of CN. CN owns the vessels through a U.S. subsidiary called Great Lakes Fleet, based in Duluth, MN. The fleet is managed/operated by Keystone Shipping of Pennsylvania, an independent American shipping company that does most of its business for the U.S. military on the high seas. Key Lakes is the subsidiary of Keystone dedicated to running the GLF ships for CN.

That's where Key Lakes comes in. It's an American based subsidiary of Canadian National to abide by the provisions of the Jones Act.

U.S.Steel sold us to Blackstone. In 1990 Then we were spun off to Transtar who owned us for a few years. Then we were sold with the D.M.I&R Railroad, the ore docks and the P&C Docks in Conneaut and the Bessemer railroad. C.N. owns us but Keystone shipping runs us. We are now called Key Lakes Great Lakes Fleet

USS is the Great Lakes Fleet, CN may own the vessels but the old USS fleet became the Great Lakes Fleet when the whole sale went down ( correct me if im wrong though). but anyway when you see people refering to USS steamers they are referring to the munson, clarke, anderson, and calloway

USS Fleet?

Am a little confused. I see references to the USS fleet and repowering steamers, but I was under the impression that USS sold their fleet to CN? Maybe I am confused. Thanks in advance.
