Obviously a typo. Another abbreviation for "Steamer" commonly seen on the Lakes is "Str." A lower case "t" must have been mistaken for an "i".

i heard it had left just before midnite saturday nite, headed, I believe, back to Port Inland.

The Sykes was testing the boom last night around 2130hrs and this morning, Sunday, at 0700hrs the Sykes had left Bay Ship.

On the Vessel tracking page, last ite in the list it was listed as Sir.

"Sir"? I'm pretty sure you mean "stmr" which is short for "steamer". The Sykes is still steam powered. I believe this same ssue was covered in a previous post.

When did the Wilfred Sykes become Sir Wilfred Sykes? My uncle sailed on this boat for many years and I've always known it as the Wilfred Sykes.
