Frankenmm, it's not inevitable that the Windoc hull will go for scrap now that the 25% Duty has been rescinded. Nor is it necessarily true that a lot more ships will go to scrap. ULS, Algoma Central Marine, and CSL are in business to make money, not to collect new ships. If upgrading & operating the old ships (that includes putting a new or used stern on the Windoc forebody) can get those companies more profit than buying expensive newbuilds (even if built in China, new ships aren't cheap) and running them; the shipping comppanies will continue to run the old ships as long as they produce a profit.

My bet is that she will be scrapped within two years due to this latest Government decision.She won t be the only one either.

Since Canada sunk the duty tax, would the owners of the Windoc hull scrap her or will they bring her back?
