That's a main engine. I worked on those boats when Oglebay Norton had them. The David Z. Norton blew the Port engine 2 years in a row 2004 & 2005. The crankshaft broke the 2nd time around.

It might be the engine for a ship service generator, to supply electric power independently of the main engine. I am presently looking at purchasing one of two ships, and both have electrical generating plants independent of the main engines.

Can anyone confirm the work being done on the Calumet in the slip at Sarnia. There is an engine block on the ground and a new one on the truck. Is this the ships engine? would think they would be bigger? Thanks Rob
