Cort
Re: Cort
Stewart J Cort showed up in Sturgeon Bay yesterday (8/30). Not sure what she is in for.
She had a new gear box bearing replaced last time she was here about a month ago and they were hoping its corresponding engine side gear box bearing would hold out until winter layup. They need to move the engine out of the way to get access to this bearing and is not a quick fix.

Yes. Go to the boatnerd ais map and zoom in on the east end of Superior. From US 2 take Moccasin Mike Road to Wisconsin Point Road, which has been known to be very bumpy so take it slow. At the end of Wisconsin Point Road is the breakwall at the Superior entry.Guest wrote:Is it possible to get pics of boats coming through the Superior entry? And if so how does one get there?

Yes, you can shoot at Superior Entry but it takes some effort to get there. Basically, you follow U.S. 2/U.S. 53 east out of Superior. Moments after leaving town you will see a road sign for Moccasin Mike Road. Turn left and follow it. After driving a mile or so you will see a paved road to the left. Can't remember the details but it basically points you toward Wisconsin Point. Follow this road until it ends and you are at a parking lot at Superior Entry. Not much to see there if no boats are arriving or leaving, although you can shoot the stern of vessels loading at BNSF ore dock if you have a telephone lens. A word of caution: U.S. 2/53 is busy, so be careful turning off and on the highway. And drive slowly on the road to Wisconsin Point. It has potholes that can stop fairly large tanks.

Not very often only a handful or a few times that I know and are aware of. Perhaps it is possible that she may have come into the Duluth Entrance and went to the fuel dock to take on fuel as a guess. I think that she has done that in the past not too often but sometimes she may do that. Hope this information helps out.
