Sunday morning at Sarnia...

Red skies in the morning... My philosophy is, after two weeks of gray horizon to horizon, get up and photograph the event!

We almost saw sunshine late this afternoon! I was so sure the setting sun would color clouds to the east, I drove up to the Lake, but it was somewhat foggy there.

Two ships and a tanker barge in three days! As for the sun, I have it on good authority it can be found blazing down from skies in AZ!

Although the sun hasn't been seen along the St. Clair River for a week, water is still ice-free!

Woke to discover Algoma Conveyor's AIS icon at the Corunna/Shell Fuel Dock, which gave me a bit of "hurry-up" on another dreary morning.

Recent daytime traffic included a tanker and tug/barge.

If it wasn't for petroleum/chemical tanker traffic on the St. Clair River, there wouldn't be any, but we know how essential they are to our economy.

Sunshine all day with twenty-seven degrees for the high, but there was river traffic so...

Frontenac appeared between snow squalls this afternoon.

The sun peeked out from under its cloud blanket, giving hope to those weary of dreary days, but maybe 45 minutes later, it disappeared again!

Well...traffic is still flowing on the St. Clair River, and these are only the ones I saw, having missed one (can't be two places at the same time) and three that will be passing Marysville in the dark hours.

This represents the end of the 2019-2020 shipping season to me. Checking AIS, time and distance of the remaining vessels indicate more (faster moving) night-time passages. I'm delighted to have this nearly perfect capture to post.

Fewer and fewer ships on the river, and many with nighttime passages.
Time to call an end to the 2019-20 shipping season and put the boats to rest/repair and the crews off to a well-earned time off.

From partly sunny to foggy and snow. A three-for-one day weather-wise with three down-bound ships passing my camera lens.

For the past two days, it has looked like "half-past sunset" all day long, but thanks to my camera and photo editing program, capturing St. Clair River traffic was rewarding.
