Cliffs knew what they had, when the conversion was made to the Cliffs Victory, a very fast boat, that could make more runs in a season than their other vessels in their fleet at that time, all things being equal.
According to the records from 1953 the Cliffs Victory was listed as a
"Lakefront Ship", as were their other large boats.
Those classified as "Upriver Ships were those such as the Michigan, Ishpeming, Joliet and etc.
