I remember your brother posted on here for a long time. He's missed and I bet your miss him too. I know because I had a brother pass away just this last Christmas. Your posting also makes me wonder if there ever was a picture of both Mackinaws together. That would be a good comparison.

Mackinaw in Mackinaw

The USCGC Mackinaw tied up at the State Dock @ 14:45 in Mackinaw City. With WAGB -83 Mackinaw moored 50 yards away I always marvel at what 2 distinctly different boats they are and how the technological updates are so obvious.
As a side note, my late brother who was the longest serving officer ever on the old Mac and the Coast Guard Engineering Officer working with Marinette Marine as the new Mac was being built had his ashes spread off the stern of the Old Mac where she currently sits.
I think he feels like he's in good company right now.
