My understanding is that ASC won't sell them to anyone that will operate them in competition with ASC. If sold for scrap, the buyer must sign a document stating that they will be scrapped and not resold for use. Under the Jones Act, US companies can't but Canadian built ships and sail them.

now that alot of vessels may have sailed their last (algonorth, algontario) or the american fortitude or american victory on the american side, how hard could it be for lower lakes to buy from them?
