Saw a picture posted on facebook of the stacker/reclaimer. Boom is on the ground with structural damage. Crew working on Christmas day on repairs, but repairs may take days or weeks. In the mean time, CN is running 40 car shuttle trains back up the hill and onto the dock from the stockpile to keep things moving.

Biggest problem with the gravity docks (chute loading) is the hatch design on the footers. Only the Presque Isle can fully load at them. She has to take approx. 65% of the load at N-2 at Two Hbrs. then slide across to S-1 to finish (and balance out) the load. That can be fast with enough people on the dock and the right mate loading. Back in the late 80's she once fully loaded in 6 hrs. 40 min.

I would assume that it might, but the docks are also serviced by CN ore trains as well so they might use the reclaimer only if rail shipments aren't inbound? Just a thought.

Not sure if that will affect ship loading at all.
From what I can ascertain if the reclaimer isn't working they have to load by cars from the top of the dock. Slows down the process by several hours. Look at the AIS map of Lake Superior and it looks like a "bust out" for Two Harbors.
