Deck Camber

Unread post by Guest »

In looking at some recent shots of the barge Michigan Trader it appears that it was built with some deck camber to allow water to run off to the sides. I seem to recall that several US ships built during the 1970s did not have any camber and had basically flat decks that resulted in standing water on deck. Is this true? When did designers return to adding camber to the decks of vessels built for Great Lakes service? Does the Mark W. Barker have a flat or cambered deck?
